Editorial Policy
Standards for specification auditing, source handling, and corrections.
Source Evaluation Framework
Budget marketplace listings often feature conflicting dimensions, ambiguous translations, and misleading mockups. Our editorial standard requires systematically parsing all accessible product sheets against observable baseline metrics.
What We Track
- Reported exterior dimensions (length, width, height in mm)
- Empty versus bundled carry weights in grams
- Stated half-pan compatibility and retaining rail styles
- Lid closure types (friction fit, latch, magnetic, slide)
What We Disregard
- Subjective marketing adjectives ("indestructible", "featherweight")
- Rendered scale representations without numeric coordinates
- Unsubstantiated lightfastness claims on unbranded pigments
- Inconsistent seller bundle claims not reflected in part lists
Corrections & Listing Revisions
Marketplace sellers regularly modify tooling, alter accessory inclusions, or adjust tin suppliers under existing listings without changing model designations. We apply the following revision procedure:
- Verification: Re-examine seller diagrams and buyer-reported package revisions when an inconsistency is identified.
- Adjustment: Update dimensional records, pan counts, or enclosure notes directly in the corresponding guide.
- Transparency: Add a dated amendment note at the head of the article detailing the corrected specification.
